Beth Dean is a designer and illustrator in San Francisco. She currently manages product design teams at Facebook working across some of tech's hardest problems: political ads transparency, ad settings, and e-commerce scams. At some point she accidentally became the world's leading expert on online behavioral advertising controls.

Before joining Facebook she led design and product for analytics and news startups, and worked with companies like Expedia, Progressive Insurance, and American Greetings. In another life she was a comic book illustrator speaking in places like San Diego Comic Con, and work featured by SPIN magazine, and La Luz de Jesus Gallery.

She's spoken all over the globe about responsible design in a rapidly changing world. She's been interviewed on NPR's Marketplace, and served as a White House LGBTQ Tech Innovation Fellow. Beth prefers to spend her time away from computers making art in Facebook's Analog Research Lab, or on top of mountains. You can find her on Twitter as @bethdean, and on her website thebethdean.com.
