An Event Apart: For People Who Make Websites

An Event Apart 2007

It’s been almost a year since we started An Event Apart. Six great cities, nine wonderful guest speakers, and close to a thousand fantastic attendees later, we’re gearing up for our second year.

To prepare, we’ve been combing through the attendee feedback for all six events, and one thing people have said over and over stands out: they wanted more. Here are just a few samples:

“Having the event spread over two days.”

“More time. The one day format did whiz by rather fast.”

“I wasn’t ready for the event to end at the end of the day.”

You spoke, we listened. That’s why 2007 will see An Event Apart grow to a full-on, two-day conference in at least four cities.

There will be more speakers on board for every show. You’ll hear from the top people in the field as they discuss best practices in web design and development. Not only design and coding, but usability, accessibility, and more.

An Event Apart Boston 2007

At this point you may expect us to end on a “stay tuned for more details…” cliffhanger. Not this time! As pleased as we are about the evolution of AEA, we’re ecstatic to announce the details of our first 2007 event:

AEA Boston
March 26th–27th, 2007
Marriott Copley Place
Registration: $795 early bird (until Feb. 26, 2007) / $895 regular / $995 at the door

Registration opens in early January, giving you have plenty of time to get adminstrative approval and talk to the budget folks and all that fun stuff. (That “fun stuff” is the reason we’re telling you about the event now, before registration opens.)

There will be a special, discounted room rate available at the Marriott for those who register, and as always, great lunches and break-time goodies will be included as part of your registration fee. (Parties, too!)

Nine great speakers

So now you’re probably figuring you’ll have to wait to find out who’ll actually be there. No, no! We already have the following speakers confirmed:

That’s nine amazing, world-class speakers in just two days. Honestly? We can’t wait to hear them all.

Other cities, other dates

Beyond Boston, we’re tentatively planning to come to New Orleans in June, Chicago in August, and San Francisco in October. We don’t have exact dates or speakers for those events just yet and it’s possible that the schedule could change. As before, we wanted to let you know so you can do any needed travel and budget planning. (Also, please note that the speaker lineup will almost certainly change from city to city.)

We hope to see you in Boston or one of the other cities in our 2007 lineup!
