Hotels and Such
An Event Apart Austin will not be held in a hotel ballroom. We prefer one-of-a-kind spaces like the Alamo Drafthouse. Hotels cut deals with big conferences that use their ballrooms, not with little (under 200 people) shows like ours, where half the attendees are locals, who won’t need hotel rooms anyway. The bad news is that we can’t offer hotel discounts, because no hotel offers them to us. The good news is that Austin is filled with exciting and beautiful hotels, some of which are even reasonably priced. Here are some we like:
- The Quality Inn – Central is a little off the beaten path at 909 E. Koenig Lane, Austin, 78751. It has Queen Bed rooms for about $75/night. If you stay here, you’ll need a car.
- The new (just a couple of years old) Hilton Austin, 500 East 4th Street, Austin, TX 78701, is clean, comfortable, business-friendly, and an easy walk to the Alamo Drafthouse.
- The Hampton Inn – Downtown at 200 San Jacinto, Austin, 78701, is an easy walk from the Alamo Draft House. Rooms are clean and nice and there’s a free buffet breakfast in the morning. Rooms are around $139, and will sell out quickly.
- The Radisson – Town Lake, at 111 E. Cesar Chavez St., Austin, 78701 is about a ten-minute walk from the Alamo Draft House. Suites are available. The cost may be a bit higher than the Hampton Inn.
Thanks and Praise
